Remote Desktop MFA Setup

Last Update 4 tahun yang lalu

The remote access system remote.bitterneparkschool.org.uk now has an added layer of security in the form of MFA (Multi Factor Authentication).

The update means, when you connect to the remote system, it will call your chosen phone (mobile/landline) and require you to authorise the connection by pressing # on your phone. Very much like when you get a code txt to you.  You can also setup the "Microsoft Authenticator App" on a smartphone if you prefer not to have a phone call.

To setup one of these methods as your default, please follow the guide below.

1. Visit https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info - you will be prompted to login and may require your MFA code.

2. If the “Default sign-in method” is set to either “Phone – Call +44xxxxxxxxx” or "Authenticator App" you are already setup to go - If not continue below:

I want a phone call

1. If you have a number already setup to receive a txt, simply click “change” and in the popup window choose “Call Me”

2. If you would like to add a new number simply click “+ Add method”

3. Once you have done these steps ensure the default method at the top is “Phone – Call +44xxxxxxxxx”

4. If it not, select “Change” and choose “Phone – Call +44xxxxxxxxx”

I want to use the App

1. Click the “+ Add method” and select "Authentication App"

2. Follow the steps to setup the app on your device.

3. Once you have done these steps ensure the default method at the top is “ Microsoft Authenticator - notification”

4. If it not, select “Change” and choose “Microsoft Authenticator - notification”
